Echo, Echo …

Another new blouse … this one from McCalls M5388.

Good –

  • Straightforward Pattern, only 4 pieces to cut
  • Ability to easily add lining by duplicating a few of the pieces in white muslin
  • Fit overall
  • Instructions

Bad-

  • The yoke/neckline is very billowy … not the look I’m going after. I added the fake button placket and it still gapes a bit, but I think it’s only me that gets a show when I look down, not others when I lean forward :).
  • Very long … I created a 2.5 inch hem and it could be shortened a bit.
  • My bad, not the pattern … I sewed the elastic one arm tighter than the other and I sewed it together with a twist, but I’m too lazy to take out and re-do … at least for now.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with the results. Again Matt asked if it’s a maternity shirt, to which I now just stick out my “very post baby” tummy and say, “why yes it is, didn’t you know I’m four months pregnant?” I do know what he’s talking about, they all have that very un-fitted/flowey could be pregnant look, but seriously, is that not the look of clothing right now? If you have a great pattern that doesn’t look like a maternity shirt please let me know :).

In Knitty Bitty updates I sewed up an Everyday Hobo Tote in the most scrumptious prints. I just LOVE the orange!! This one is going to be hard to give to it’s new owner :).

And just a reminder … any order placed through Knitty Bitties in July will be 20% off!! I’m booked for orders before I leave on vacation, but you can still place your order now (just send me a conversation via Etsy or e-mail me at knittybitties@gmail.com) and pay for it (payment is due 1-2 weeks before your item is shipped) in August. Just think of the jump start you could get on Christmas, birthday or even baby gifts.

Happy Day!

**Watch for a give-away coming later this week!!! **

Comments

  1. I definitely want a shirt now! I really like that one, and it will help to hide my belly till it’s flat again (hah! that won’t be any time soon, but I just know my trainer’s going to start kicking my butt again!). And I love the way that tote almost looks like it’s got ribbons tied along the band.

  2. I like the shirt! It’s very cute.
What fabric is on the top band of that bag? I love it! The whole bag is really cute but I love that strip the best.
