Can you spare a square?

Well I sure can … with all the sewing I’ve done the last year and a half I have a BIG bag of scraps. I can’t bear to throw away anything 2x2in or larger. I’d love to make a big scrappy quilt with all my scraps, but I know that isn’t realistic right now since all my sewing is mainly for Knitty Bitties, not myself.

So … I was so happy when a month or so ago the idea hit me … how I could “upcycle” my scraps. With much of the nation changing daily habits to be “more green” (including me) and in talking to Jessie about the benefits of cloth diapering, I thought, why not re-usable toilet paper? I mean really, it’s just the grown up version of cloth diapers, right? Except we’re now big enough to wipe our own bottoms, so we don’t need to wear a large piece of cloth, just have a small piece ready in the bathroom.

I’ll be introducing this idea in my shop very soon and I’d love to hear your thoughts/feedback. Right now I’m thinking of selling them as 5×5 squares (much larger than a square of toilet paper) with a pinked edge for no-fray washing. I’d sell them in sets of 50 sheets for $10.00.

Here’s a sampling of what I’ve started …

I’ll be back tomorrow with some pictures of some of the other stitched goodies I’ve been sewing.

Happy Creating!
