A peek …

… into my shop.

I thought it would be fun to share a little bit more of me and the behind the scenes of what I make. So … if things go as I want (which really isn’t that often šŸ˜‰ I will try to blog about something other than what I made at least once a week.

On Sunday I was happily plugging along in my sewing room (while my boys were plugging along in the garage) and I decided I needed to capture this little ‘space’ and share it on my blog. Just as it was, imperfections and all.

So here is a look at where I do all my sewing. I almost always have my iced tea next to me (and Sunday I had a little frozen cookie dough :D). My little DVD player is set up on my USPS scale (what? That’s not what it’s for?!?) with either Gilmore Girls or my latest Redbox playing … notice the headphones? Totally necessary if you want to hear and sew. My little trash can to catch all my snipped threads and tiny fabric scraps. A sweater for when I get cold … which I will … and then I get too hot. And of course, “Miss J” is always there with me.

Behind the chair is my ironing board so I can just swivel and iron. And to the left of the DVD player is my serger. A happy little work triangle :D.

Here’s a look at my growing fabric stash … which is to my right if I’m sitting and sewing …

Look! Lots more solids showing up (thanks to a great Kona sale at JoAnns). The ‘baby’ section is almost full. Good thing I started sewing “Bitty Baby Sets” again. It seems like this should be shrinking with all the sewing, but it just keeps showing up in the mailbox. Hmmmm.

And across from my sewing desk is this little red chair which either holds my pattern binder or one of my current projects. Underneath is this sweet wire basket full of my FQ’s. Just a week ago they all fit … and now look …

And there you have my little bit of happy I enjoyed on Sunday with the sun streaming in through the window behind my desk. I even gave up my beloved Sunday nap to play in here. I think that has something to do with this Saturday’s Spring Boutique/Open House.

Be back soon with a list of ‘want to’ projects and new items for the shop!

Happy Creating!

P.S. Anything else you’d like to see? Or know about me?

  1. Love your space! My question is how on earth do you keep the carpet clean?!? Mine is perpetually covered in string, fuzz, and fabric scraps. I’ve tried vacuuming in the past and it just about ruined the vacuum cleaner. Guess I should be more tidy as I work.

  2. Thank you for sharing your space! I love it! I am glad I am not the only one that needs a movie or somethig going on while I am scrapbooking or crocheting. :) I usually play Judging Amy or 7th Heaven.

What I would love to see is maybe some organizing tips. I am not the best at organizing. Also what kind of fabric do you use? It’s awesome! :)

  3. Awesome! I love looking at other people’s workspaces! :)

I have a question: Can I have one of the elves that keep your studio so nice and clean???

  4. You mean you just eat frozen cookie dough while you work? What a cute little quirk I never would have expected from you!
