A life outside the sewing room?

I know sometimes I can’t believe it either … or just ask my son, who’s classic answer when his dad walks in the door is, ‘mom’s in her sewing room like usual.’ 😀

I do break up my day with plenty of other things, but one thing I have really learned to love over the last 3 years is running. This year I upped my usual ‘fair weather running’ of the last two years and committed to running a 10K.

{Hello Me … running my 10K in May.}

Sadly through my ‘training’ (that makes me laugh almost as much as my son calling me ‘an athlete’) and increasing distances I keep ending up with aches and pains. As soon as I figure one out another develops.

Oh well, this is not a running blog and I will not bore you with the details (even my sweet supportive husband goes into a trance when I start talking about my latest ache and how I’m going to fix it), but I did want to share a few things making me happy today and it didn’t include sewing …

{Hello sneaky not really ‘layered’ tank.}

My new running tank from Old Navy. Seriously, I don’t know why, but a good outfit for working out just makes a girl feel good and want to get to it! It also makes the 85 degree running weather slightly more tolerable.

{Hello Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 … and hello aqua blue!}

My new running shoes … my second $100 pair in 1 year … yikes!! Apparently the first pair didn’t get along with my legs once they started running more than 3miles at a time. So I got new ones which make my legs much happier … and look it there … I spy aqua blue. I promise I did not buy them for the color, but I do love it.

Oh and my, my, my if my new tank doesn’t match them too. Destiny again.

{Hello cute pouch … on my ‘old’ also cute $100 shoes.}

Lastly, my favorite piece of running ‘equipment’ … my Nike+ add-on for my iPod. This is the little pouch I made (from this tutorial … a long time ago) to hold the sensor. And then I can hear how far I’ve ran and then see how I did when I get home … like tonight’s run … 4.18 MI in 42:43 (which included 1.2 of walking due to the knee problems I’m not boring you with).

I hope you all had a lovely day too! Any other runners (I hesitate to even call myself that) out there reading?

Happy Creating! See you tomorrow (I know, blogging every. single. day. this week) for new sponsor news and another giveaway … this time by me :).

  1. I love your new running tank! SOOO cute! I agree, running is much more enticing if you look good while you do it! :)

  2. So besides sewing super cute things, you’re also a super cute runner lol!

    The tank top is really cute. I’m going to have to go check out Old Navy now. Can’t say much about the shoes. I gave up running in shoes a few months ago and am enjoying running a whole lot more now without them =) And I run with a Garmin Forerunner.

  3. I love your new shoes! Very cute! I think I need to get on making that Nike+ pouch.. maybe then I’ll be motivated to move more. 😉

  4. I MISS running. Someday. Again. I will!
