"My Desk Monday"

So … I thought it might be fun to have 1 (maybe 2) weekly prompts that would keep me inspired to not only take pictures of what I’m working on, but share them with you guys. And … I’m hoping that you might start playing along. Which would mean learning how to include a linky so we could see your posts too!

Without further ado … I give you …

“My Desk Monday”

{On my ‘work desk’ … a sneak at my latest obsession. And by obsession I mean that I did a lot of embroidering over the weekend. I think I’m hooked. Lots of fun, lots of potential … am I 80?!? }

{On my sewing ‘desk’ … more embroidery and a doily? Both little sneaks at the new ‘add-on’s’ I’ll be featuring for my camera strap slipcovers. So excited to share tomorrow. }
And because I left you almost nothing to look at in December, I’m trying to make up for it …
Here is a look at one of my “Christmas Sewing” projects::
A “faux chenille” blanket for my son, E. After falling in love with a blanket with a ‘foot pocket’ at my bestie’s house in November, I knew I had to make one for him for Christmas. Now, I coulda woulda shoulda just stuck with the simple ‘two large pieces of fabric, some batting and a foot pocket’ version … but NOOOOOooooooo … I had to try something new. Something that made my neck and shoulders ache. Something that took 2 hours just to quilt the stinkin’ 1/2 lines.
Good thing I love it.

Another plus, I only had to buy 2 pieces of flannel for the back. I pieced the front from leftovers from my Robert Kaufman sewing. Then used a layer of organic brown cotton and then a layer of orange flannel and a circular pattern flannel (both from JoAnns).

The yellow square is my addition to the tutorial. The ‘foot pocket’ lined in minky fabric. My E’s feet have been tucked into it every single night since he opened it. That says it all, right?

And one last little peak at life around here (yes, lots has been going on …  I’ve just been bad at sharing) …

My first creation from the “Little Birds” book. This is going to a friend as a belated birthday present. I’ll try to remember to take a photo of it all cute and matted and framed. Not too bad for my first try at embroidery. Or am I kidding myself?!?!

Let me know if you’d like to join in on “My Desk Monday” next week and I’ll add a link-up option.

Happy Creating!

    Where are you getting your embroidery patterns? At a Christmas bazaar this year I saw some cute ones, but thought they were a little expensive.

    I love the birds, so cute!

  7. Oh I love the flock! I wish I knew how to embroider because I would totally make that for my bff who just had twin boys bringing the total number of boys to girls in her house to 5 to 1. She’d love that little do-dah. :)
