My favorite snack …

… is the perfect compliment to my daily iced tea.

Hanging out together on a mug rug ;).

I made a batch of my favorite snack on Saturday to help sustain my NIL, SIL and myself as we worked on my soon-to-arrive great niece’s nursery. Sadly they didn’t eat nearly enough and I forgot to send any home with them.

Which is why my mouth is now covered in canker sores {I knew you wanted to know} from eating WAY to much. But it’s SO addictive. Seriously, I’ve been trying to talk Julie into making it because I know it would rival Toffee Crack .

Sweet Party Mix
{Knitty Bitties version ~ adapted from Better Homes & Gardens}

Prep: 10min
Bake: 20min
Oven: 300
Make: 12 Cups

{8} Cups Crispix
{2} Cups Pretzel Sticks
{1/2} Cup Slivered Almonds or Chopped Almonds
{1/2} Cup Cashew Pieces
{1/2} Cup Craisins
{1/2} Cup Dried Blueberries
{1} Stick Butter
{1} Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
{1/4} Cup Light Corn Syrup

1. In a LARGE bowl (coated with cooking spray) combine ingredients, Crispix through Dried Blueberries.
2. In a medium saucepan combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils. Continue boiling at a moderate, steady rate, without stirring, for 5 minutes more. Remove saucepan from heat and slowly pour over cereal mixture; stiring gently to coat.
3.Spread cereal mixture out on a large cookie sheet (coated with cooking spray) and bake in 300 degree oven for 15 minutes; stir mixture and bake 5 minutes more. Remove from oven and spread on a large piece of foil to cool. Break into pieces if necessary and store in an airtight container.

And to go along with this tasty recipe … I’ve got {4} new designs in the shop. I try to make 3 or more of each mug rug, but because they are primarily created from scraps, I don’t always have enough for that many. So get ’em while you can … because when they’re gone, they really are gone.

  1. This sounds yummy! Will have to try this one!

  2. Yummy….this does sound good. I had to laugh at your comment about Julie. “Toffee crack”
Im headed to your shop to chk out that greet the day with a song mugrug. I’ll be heading back to the working world in the fall as a teacher and I would love to see that on my desk each morning.

  3. I love that snack mix, but it’s been a while since I have made it. Thanks for the reminder :)
I love, love, love my mug rug! It’s sitting on my desk right now at work with a Diet Coke.

  4. Oh boy…this looks YUMMY. I’ll have to make this soon! :)

  5. I will attest to the fact that it’s deliciously addictive! But you know I love it! I love the new mug rugs but I really don’t need anymore! :)

  6. I’m gonna have to try this. I’m a big fan of original Chex Mix. For the canker sores try CankerX (I find it at Walgreens). The stuff has changed my life!

  7. Thanks for this! I’m going to make some for a gathering I’m having this weekend :o)
