A {Berry Sweet} Baby Shower

I get to share all the pictures and details of the shower I threw {with some wonderful help} for my niece-in-love, Jessica. She’s carrying my {GREAT} niece, Everlee who I am so excited to meet in a few more weeks.

Seriously, I now get “GREAT” added to my title of Aunt. I’m pretty thrilled about that and fully intend to live up to my title.

What:: A Berry Sweet Baby Shower
When:: Saturday, June 25th / 10AM
Where:: A friend’s patio

  • Bolt of Robert Kaufman’s red fabric from the “Piece O’ Cake” line that I had left over from Spring Quilt Market sewing.
  • This baby shower that Laurie linked on Tip Junkie.
  • A lot of the food & decor was inspired by several different pins on my Pinterest ‘Ideas for parites‘ and ‘Ideas for babies‘ boards. This was the first ‘event’ I’ve planned since being on Pinterest and it was such a huge resource.

Red, Lime Green & White

The invitations were a near copy of inspiration shower. I was in a pinch to get them out in plenty of time and needed to print 100 of them, so I decided not to reinvent the wheel.

We used the dining room off of the patio to set up the food buffet. We served ‘light refreshments’ perfect for a summer morning.

  • “Veggie” Bites {Mozzarella/Tomato/Olive/Cucumber} Inspired by: This Pin
  • White Chocolate Covered Strawberries
  • Sugar Cookies

The incredible ‘E’ cookies were made by the talented Callye of Sweet Sugar Belle. The design was a surprise and I absolutely love it!! Go visit her blog today for a tutorial on how to make some berry sweet cookies of your own. The strawberry cookies {inspired by: this pin} were made by me {thank you Callye for the cookie cutter!!}.

  • Fresh Fruit Salad {Strawberries, Blueberries & Pineapple mixed w/ lemonade & honey}

I know that I’ll probably cause some of you to {gasp} but, I don’t really care for the ‘staged’ dessert/food table that are so popular right now. I know, I know?!? I prefer the more natural look and better traffic flow of a set up like we created.

We kept this simple and set up a drink station on the patio on a baker’s rack. Mason jars with tags tied around them and a cute dish that help markers for writing your name.

  • Water, Iced Tea & Pink Lemonade

I like the inspirations shower’s use of flower & strawberry centerpieces in mason jars, but to keep costs down, I planted wheat grass in mason jars, embellished the jars with paper and then added paper pinwheels and fresh strawberries.{A {Berry Sweet} Tutorial Part: 2}

I also incorporated the baby’s name, Everlee, with a banner {A “Berry Sweet” Tutorial: Part 1} and several ‘E’s’ in decorations and cookies. My recently finished quilt was a perfect match.

The red fabric, a green gingham fabric and un-bleached cotton were used as table runners on all of the tables as well as incorporated into the centerpieces.

A friend graciously allowed us to host the shower on her back patio which was set up beautifully. We did have a lot of morning sun, but the three umbrellas provided quite a bit of shade. It was also early enough that the temperature was just right.

The potted flowers/hanging baskets were already here {great impact with no extra expense}. We added hanging tissue paper flowers to the umbrellas.

  • Gift Area

Embellished with the vintage suitcase I got at The Farm Chicks show. The lining is in impeccable condition … and the perfect shade of red!

The guest of honor holding up the zig-zag quilt I made her for the nursery {the colors are coral pink/red, aqua & yellow}.

It all came together beautifully … I couldn’t have asked for better weather, more helping hands or sweeter friends and family making this a ‘berry sweet’ day!
