A bit distracted …

I had high hopes of posting a ‘nursery tour’ on my blog today.

Instead I’ve been helping, holding, snuggling, changing and loving this little one {my great niece} and her mama this week instead of getting my ‘work’ done.

I wouldn’t change it for anything. What a privilege for me to live so close and have a flexible schedule to allow me to help out in this sweet time.

Can you tell I’m a bit tickled with this one?

I will share one quick project I completed last week. After going over to take pictures of the nursery, I noticed that the wooden rocker for the nursery did not have a cushion. Well … being a mama myself, I remembered that the ‘nether region’ is a bit sore after delivery and a wooden rocker alone would not do.

So, using my tutorial, I whipped up a cover for an extra IKEA cushion I had and embellished it with one row of quilting following this tutorial.

This was SO fun to make and works perfectly in the nursery.

Come back next week for the nursery tour.

The winner of the Pleasant Home giveaway is … #91 {Kim who said, “I love V & Co.’s ruffle pillow pattern. It would be a fun one to make.”}. Congrats Kim, send me an e-mail with your contact information and I will pass it on to Jodi.

  1. Your nieces are lucky to have you! What a dolly. The cushion looks adorable too.

  2. Oh lucky you! The baby girl is adorable! I really love holding newborns, love their sweet baby scent and soft skin. Enjoy!

  3. Love the cushion. One question; how do you keep the ties from tearing away from the cushion? Any suggestions? That’s what has happened to the cushions in my dining room.

  4. I love the braided look of the quilting! So beautiful!

  5. What a great cushion… and a great reason to be distracted!
    Congrats on your new niece!

  6. Hi there,

  9. Great post :)

My mom sent me your link & said she thought I’d like it. I don’t craft but I do run & I’m a single Mom. I don’t have the most time to do it but it certainly is quality time w/myself. And I’ll never be an 8 min mile either…I loved all the quotes you posted.
