{Christmas} Favorites

Well Monday was gone just like that with no time to blog. I did however, say “Hello Monday” and a great start to my week.

I’m *almost* caught up on orders {which feels amazing}, I’ve got a good start on Christmas shopping {I think the rest can be finished online}, the halls are decked {need to share some pictures}, laundry is caught up and I’m itching to bake.

{By the way … I think some of you may have missed my Friday post, but I’m hosting a FABULOUS giveaway for $25 to Erin Condren.com. You know, the colorful folks behind the oh-so-talked about Life Planners. Don’t forget to enter … it could make you happy, or someone on your to-buy-for-list very happy.}

Since I don’t have anything to share {new yellow+gray+aqua colorway *should be* listed in the shop tomorrow} from the shop, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my Christmas favorites instead::

Music ~
Favorite ‘Traditional’ Song – O’ Holy Night
Favorite ‘Old School’ Christian Christmas Song – Breath of Heaven (Mary’s Song) by Amy Grant & 4 Him’s Strange Way to Save the World

{Source:: Amazon.com}

Favorite Christmas Album – Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan
Favorite New Album – A Very She & Him Christmas {although Mr. Buble’s album could be a tie for favorite}

{Source:: Steamy Kitchen}

Food ~
I traditionally bake/make:: Snowball Kisses {think Mexican wedding cookie with a chocolate kiss in the middle}; Cracker Toffee; Peanut Butter Blossoms; Sugar Cookies {these may be my very favorite} & Rolo Turtles

Reads ~
I love checking out 2 or 3 Christmas books to read in December. They are usually quick reads and I love being cozied up under a quilt next to the fireplace {another someone does too … this is how my little spent Saturday}.

{Source:: Amazon.com}

A few of my favorite authors are:: Donna VanLiere {Author of the Christmas Shoes, her newest book is The Christmas Note}; Richard Paul Evans {his newest is Lost December} & Jason F. Wright {he wrote both Christmas Jars & The Christmas Jar Reunion}

Activities ~
Driving around looking at Christmas lights. This is by far our favorite family activity and so we do it weekly {or more} in December, often grabbing some hot chocolate for the drive. I just love lights, there is something so light hearted and magical about the feeling they can give you.

I also love the joy surrounding Sundays this time of year. I don’t think there is anymore ‘right’ feeling place this time of year than A. with your family or B. with your church family. It puts your focus right where it should be singing Christmas hymns with a body of believers.

I’m sure I’ll have plenty more to share about me+Christmas in the coming days. Any music, recipes or reads I should check out?

A little more happy ...

  1. It’s funny you posted about Amy Grant. I heard her on the radio today and kind of laughed at how old the song was. I still love it of course. It’s just funny that it’s a “classic”. Chris Tomlin’s Christmas CD is really good. Of course it’s not Christmas in our house until SCC is played. I do love the new Michael Buble’ CD though too! (Mike calls him Mr. Bubbly.)

    And the Christmas books…I love them too! There are several free ones for the Kindle right now. I think I have 4 or 5 on mine. And of course I have The Christmas Box thanks to you. :)

    (By the way, when does the Erin Condren giveaway end?)

  2. I love Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant, i had forgotten about that song so thanks for sharing =)

  3. Sandy says:

    O’ Holy Night is my favorite traditional Christmas song, too!

  4. Sandy says:

    Forgot to ask if you had heard, “Labor of Love” by Andrew Peterson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYjYi4tYvXU
    Love it!

  5. I love Breath of Heaven too! Can you believe Melanie, Kristen and I sang it in church. Ha, I wish I had a recording of that!

    I’m reading Christmas Shoes right now. I’ll have to look for the Christmas Note, I just got a 20% off coupon for B&N.

    Did you find the 3D glasses? Your next Christmas light drive will be a blast!

    Enjoy your Thursday, I have a little kindergarten program to attend, smiles.

  6. A- thanks for linking this up to my Pity Party and for entering the giveaway. I secretly wanted to rig it and have you win. ;)
    Your music selections are SO me. Those are exactly my favorites. Great minds think alike! xoxo
