Re-charging my {creative} batteries …

I started by cleaning the house …
That recharges not only my creative batteries but my mental and physical batteries too. Weird I know, because cleaning house is a bit tiring, but so satisfying to have it done and the order it restores.

My house was clean, my orders were caught up and I only had one appointment for the day …

So I started the morning off by tackling a new quilt. A handmade Christmas {and belated birthday} present for my newly turned 5 year old niece. She’s in a big girl room with a big girl bed and ‘needs’ a big girl quilt.

I’m using ‘a piece of cake’ pattern from Thimble Blossoms::

In Robert Kaufman’s Treasures & Tidbits fabric::

A little cutting and sewing this morning {while ‘watching’ Mad Men} and I *almost* have all the blocks done. Hello fast piecing!! I’ll be sure to share some actual pictures very soon.

I took a break for a lunch date with my mama and a little Starbucks and stocking stuffer shopping. Now I’m home and while I had planned to finish my quilt blocks, I think I’ll sneak in a power nap before I pick up the little. I can quilt a little more tonight after he’s tucked into bed.

Hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday too … don’t forget in the hustle and bustle to take time to re-charge and keep your heart and mind set on ENJOYING and CELEBRATING the real reason for it all.
