What I Love {Wednesday on Thursday}

Technically I’m writing this post LATE Wednesday night, but I’ll just go ahead and schedule it for Thursday so you can enjoy it over your morning coffee.

{First, let me say THANK YOU to those of you that took time to leave me such thoughtful and loving comments on my last post. They mean SO much to me and I look forward to e-mailing you each back. I hardly feel like an inspiration, but am happy I shared knowing it encouraged many of you.}

Today’s what I love is all about the KITCHEN. You see my Sweets and I both love to cook. Or rather he loves to cook and I love to bake. Match made in heaven, no? Because of this, we spend a lot of time on the weekends in the kitchen together making some delicious meals. It’s one of my favorite parts of the weekend … cookin’ in the kitchen together, enjoying time together and not feeling the 5 o’clock rush to get something on the table.

All that to say, it’s not surprising that we gift each other with a lot of kitchen/cooking related items. I’m going to share some of my recent favorites::

Crate and Barrel, Homemade Cookies Jar
I love this jar so … it’s so simple and sweet and nostalgic and begs to be filled with HOMEMADE cookies every single week.

Le Creuset Garlic Keeper
Seriously, this little guy sits INSIDE the skinny cabinet next to our stove and I can’t hep but smile every time I open it and see it … or when I go to get garlic for a recipe, I get a little excited knowing I get to see the garlic keeper. {I know, I know … I’m weird} I also have it’s cousin the Honey Pot which is a beautiful mustard yellow. It sits on the counter and winks at me each morning as I make my little’s PB&Honey sandwich.

Good Cook, Silicone Spatulas
Well a couple of my much loved Pampered Chef spatulas bit the dust and I was down to two. Two is okay until you go to bake a cake or make cupcakes. Then you’re up a creek without a spatula. The red & aqua get to hang out in the utensil crock on the counter while yellow & green stay in the drawer and wait for the rainy day to come out and play.

And just this last weekend while I was away at my girls’ weekend, he surprised me with this::

KitchenAid Glass Bowl
The ‘thread’ on the base of our metal bowl had finally given out due to much bread making {the sourdough starter I gifted my Sweets with and the weekly sourdough bread he gifts us with are a whole separate post}, cookie making and all other things mixer related.

Now, aside from the bowl {and we didn’t NEED to splurge on the glass version}, most of these items are completely un-necessary … which is why they were all gifts. Not needed, but wanted and loved. Call me materialistic, but each of these is a sweet reminder of my love of baking, my love of eating and my love that gave them to me.

Last, here are two recipes I recently tired and LOVED::
Apple Cinnamon Crumb Muffins, Two Peas & Their Pod
Brown Sugar Baked Oatmeal, Gooseberry Patch’s Comfort Food via Pinke Post

Linking up:: Lollipops’ What I Love

  1. Mike & I were just talking about Le Creuset a couple days ago. We’re a lot like you two when it comes to cooking and baking so this is a totally normal topic of conversation in our house.
    I love the cookie jar and I’m glad he splurged on the glass bowl for you :)

    Thanks for sharing the recipes too! The cookie oatmeal does sound delicious! :)

  2. Sweet gifts! My hubbies favorite place to shop is Le Gourmet Chef. It’s so funny that he is so crazy about cooking ‘gear’, but he was once a chef and (is)a restaurant owner. He enjoys cooking more than me, but it’s all good:) Looking forward to trying your recipes–they look so yummy!
