Little Man baby shower …

… for Finnley.
When I asked my best friend to come along on the “Snap! adventure” she wasn’t even pregnant. Fast forward to our trip and well, guess who was over 6 months pregnant?? So, I took advantage of her being back on her ‘home turf’ {where *almost* all of her family and *almost* all of best friends live, eh-hem} and added a ‘baby shower’ to her trip agenda.
I’m so glad this worked out. Of course, without the help of three wonderful co-hosts {Kelly, Bethany & Stacie}, it probably would not have happened {the night after we got back from Snap!}.
** Party Planning Tip #1 ~ Co-Host Parties/Showers whenever possible. **
We had a little shower planning date at Starbucks {I also highly recommend a ‘planning date’ at Starbucks on a Monday} and brought together several ideas/pins/baby shower posts into a ‘Little Man, Sprinkled with Love’ shower.
So … here goes …

A Little Man ‘sprinkled with love’ Baby Shower::
The invitation design needed to be simple and quick as I only had a few days to get these out to give guests a little bit of notice. I went to Pinterest and Etsy searching for a {free} printable option but couldn’t find quite what I was looking for. Then I saw this invitation and new that was it! Now, my design is *almost* a direct copy, but here is the thing … I am crediting the original design, ellieoh designs {and think that her fee is very reasonable for a custom invitation you can print at home {however, given my design background, I also knew I could create this in a short amount of time with my access to/knowlege of Adobe Illustrator} … I will not share a how-to as I think that is a big infringement on the original designer’s creative property.
Invitations were printed on my home printer and then cut and mounted on kraft cardstock.
** Party Planning Tip #2 ~ an actual invitation sets the tone of a party/shower. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be classy and meaningful. **
  • Lime Green & Aqua Blue {sensing a theme from my Book Worm Party??}
** Party Planning Tip #3 ~ re-use party supplies whenever possible. **
  • Paper Chain {Kelly}
  • Name Bunting {Kelly}
  • Paper Mache “F” {Kelly}
  • Bow Tie Bunting
  • “Sprinkles” Bunting {paper circles punched and stitched together}
  • Streamers, paper lanterns and balloons {not pictured}

Fabric bow-tie bunting was made using this tutorial as a guide. I modified the sizes mentioned for a smaller sized bow-tie. The  bow-ties were sewn and then the ‘center’ of them attached using hot glue. I hand stitched them together as suggested. I also created a bow-tie pin for the mama-to-be and grandmas.

  • “Aqua” Punch & Lime/Cucumber/Mint Water

Tiny Details~

  • Mini Bow-Ties used on mason jar wraps and cupcake picks created on my Silhouette using this download. I reduced the design down {reduce all pieces at the same time so they work together} so that the {what I thought was the back piece} of the bow-tie was about  2.75 in length. Kelly showed up with her cute bunting using the same design and I realized that I hadn’t really put them together ‘as intended’ … oh well!
  • Mason Jar Wraps:: Created by cutting a piece of kraft cardstock .75×8. I then added one of the mini bow-ties to the center and wrapped and glued them to the jars. The strip of cardstock created the perfect spot for guests to write their name.
  • Cupcake Picks:: Created using the same mini bow-ties and simply gluing them to ‘fancy’ toothpicks.
** Party Planning Tip #4 ~ if cutting and assembling very small things on the Silhouette for your party … I highly recommend using 3M’s Quick Dry Adhesive. **
