Favourite Things Party

A few of my favorite things?
My girlfriends {I have a core group that have been friends for over 20 years … blessed much?}; party planning/crafting and food.

So … when one sees a blog post involving all three of these things, well it lights a spark … and the rest is history. {Kinda like this post … old news since this all went down weeks ago. Eh, so be it, I’m on summer time people!!}

I talked a few of my girlfriends {Kelly, Jessica & Summer} into ‘co-hosting’ the party with me. **I highly recommend co-hosting parties. In fact, I’ve decided I never want to have to do the ‘whole shebang’ all by myself again.** They were more than excited to join in. Many e-mails, a party planning date and a few weeks of preparation and we were ready for one AMAZINGLY fun night.

Favourite Things Party

Color Scheme:: Aqua, Lime Green, Yellow and Kraft

Invitations::
Created using this free printable & Adobe Illustrator. Printed at home {cheap, cheap}.

We invited a group of 12 of our close girlfriends and then to mix things up and broaden our circle of friendship, asked each of them to invite a friend. Never did we think that almost every one would be able to come and almost all would bring a friend. We had 22 wonderful ladies show up!

Decor::
We didn’t go over the top on decor. We wanted to spend our energy/finances on sweet details that would be remembered.

Kraft flowers {Jessica} / Punched circle garland {Me}

Framed ‘Favourite Thing’ Lists {Kelly}
As each guest RSVP’d, we asked them to answer a list of questions of some of their favorite things like their favorite movie, book, color, food,etc. Kelly made up these adorable frames and displayed them around the living room and food area.

Table Setting::
Kraft paper rolled out and draped with more circle garland
Various white, aqua & lime green serving pieces

Food::
Each guest was asked to bring their favorite snack to share. While this was a great idea, it proved to be a crazy amount of food. We’ll have to re-think this for next time, but man was it good to have a sampling of more than 20 dishes!

Beverage::
We provided the drinks … iced tea / lemonade / citrus water served in mason jars labeled with washi tape {or in our case masking tape since I forgot the washi tape … but really, it worked with our color scheme}.

Swag Bags::
I loved that Julie provided her guests with swag bags. We used kraft bags embellished with a pinwheel {cut on my Silhouette} and a stamped ‘ticket’.

Each swag bag included a notebook {Michael’s $1 spot for .50/each}, thank you swag {either earrings or bobby pins} and sponsor swag.

Sweet Hair Ties, whom we met while we were at Farm Chicks, generously sent hair ties for all the ladies. I loved this extra touch and I know our guests did too. I mean really, when your event is sponsored, it has a whole new aire about it! 😀

I love, love, love the double headband I bought at the Farm Chicks show. It’s perfect for summer hair! And even though you couldn’t attend, Sweet Hair Ties is offering Knitty Bitties readers a discount of 10% when you use the code, KNITTYBITTIES10. Seriously, such nice ladies!!

{Sweet Hair Ties will be sponsoring my August “Happy Bundle Giveaway” as well. Can you say glitter and sparkle?!?}

Name Tags::
Name tags were needed … since we were bring brave and branching out to NEW people. In order to ‘cute’ them up, Kelly came up with the great idea {and her and Jessica made them} of attaching a flower clip/pin to a piece of kraft cardstock.

Favourite Things Table::
Overflowing off the table and onto the floor … 22 guests x 5 things each = 110 favourite things!! From pillows {yes pillows} to argyle socks and everything like Starbucks cards and Burt’s Bees in between, there were so many fun, cute, creative and clever things.

**eta**
Each guest was given 5 traditional raffle tickets when they arrived. One half went in a mason jar and they kept the other half. When it was time to draw for our fabulous new finds, each guest would take turns getting up and explaining their favorite thing. We would then draw 5 numbers to receive that favorite thing.

My favourite thing::
Set of {40} Cupcake Liners & Sprinkles from Bake it Pretty

I went home with 5 fabulous new finds::

  • Embellished clipboard with free printable … adorable! I plan to hang it in my sewing room and rotate the printable.
  • Red/White Polka Dot Mug & Tea … love!
  • Card Making Kit … so creative and I do love to make cards!
  • $5 Starbucks GC … loved while it lasted :).
  • Scentsy bar in a new summer scent … Mmmm.

Serioulsy folks, such a fun night. We heard lots of chatter from our guests about doing their own parties {hurrah, love it, don’t forget to invite us} and we plan to do another one this fall.

Have you thrown a favorite things party yet? What are you waiting for?!?
