So … I’m not really sure where #livewithoutpretending started … but I’ve seen it popping up a lot on Instagram. I kinda think that it fits perfectly with why I haven’t blogged at all this week.

It’s not because I didn’t want to … contrary, I had a lovely week of posts planned/though out. But life had another idea and last Friday I came down with some horrible virus. I hate to say “the flu” because I don’t know if that is what it is/was and I don’t like to throw that diagnosis around lightly having had influenza two years ago. However, it felt very similar. Horribly similar.  Perhaps slightly less horrible because I had a flu shot?!?

I’m not the kind of blogger that has a series of posts drafted and ready to go when ‘real life’ strikes. That would be wonderful, but that’s not the kinda blogger I am. I write my posts the day before or a couple days before and that’s it.

This is real life. I’m not perfect. I’m exhausted. I’ve been extra grouchy with my family. I need sleep and rest and catch up time.

I do hope I’m on an upswing though and have a little Valentine decor to share with you tomorrow should I rally enough energy after volunteering and grocery shopping.

Thanks for being patient with me through the quiet spells of ‘online’ life!!


  1. I’m sending you virtual get well wishes, i know how it feels, i was laid up with the flu last week and it really knocked me for six. Yesterday was my first normal day where the kids were both at school, i was at work, shopping to do, walk the dog blah blah blah, and needless to say today I’m shattered and sitting down reading blogs!   7. I can totally relate! I’ve had back to back viruses for several weeks now, nothing “horrible” but enough to really get me down and grouchy.

  11. Oh that’s the worst. :( Our whole family had the bug over Christmas and it was one thing after another pretty much all through January. I hope you feel better soon!
