"I {LOVE} your bag" …

I can not tell you how many times I’ve heard “I love your bag” since I got my Kate Spade {Wellesley Rachelle in Sunshine} bag last May. At least once a week … I often joke with my Sweets that I should make a little tally mark on the lining {of course I would never}.
{She also tends to raise a little fuss when she shops up in my Instagram feed.}
The funny thing is … as much as I too love my bag … the fuss and attention sometimes makes me blush. Because usually … right after “I love your bag,” comes “Where did you get it?” I almost feel embarrased when I say Kate Spade. Weird right? I buy the bag because it’s a “Kate Spade” but then feel too flashy carrying around my Kate Spade?!? Girls are so complicated. Of course, right after I tell them, I have to blurt out … “but I got it during a great Flash Sale.”

I don’t know why I feel like I have to say that. I don’t feel like I need to justify my spending to anyone other than myself, my husband and God. I know that this was a special ‘treat’ that came from a small portion of a big sewing job I completed and was part of my birthday present. So maybe that is it … it’s an out of the ordinary purchase for me, so I want others to know that?!? There I go … justifying ;).

I’ve carried this bag every day for almost a year {IT really IS WIWW and M, T, TH, F, S & SU}. It’s big … bigger than I had expected. I can pack it full with snacks and a book or magazine plus all my essentials. I’m amazed at how it shows hardly any wear even though it gets lugged around every day. The quality is far better than that of the “other” designer purse I own {Coach}. And the polka dot lining … too much!

So, I’d say she’s earned her keep and continues to be a show off!

I’m going to work on just saying “Thank You” and enjoying this daily bit of sunshine in my life and let it remind me of all I have to be thankful for with this little passion of mine called sewing!

  1. She really is beautiful. The perfect yellow! Saying “thank you” and not justifying is such a challenge! Thank you for the reminder.

  3. Why do we women always feel we have to justify our purchases, when we worked hard for it? It’s a beautiful bag that will last forever, so enjoy the fruits of your labor. I haven’t seen or heard of a flash sale and would love to know about them.

  4. I love it! Such a beautiful cheerful bag.

  5. The bag is wonderful. No justifying needed. And I love Katie Daisy – Just recently ordered some of her prints for my in-laws’ cabin …yay! Christmas shopping checked off!!!
    (P.S. my kids are loving their crayon wallets :)

  6. super cute!

  7. LOL! Um, I was one of those, “I LOVE your bag!” people! And truth be told, I STILL think about that bag! So much so that I bought myself the bright yellow shoulder bag/tote that is at Target right now before QuiltCon! And as cheap as it is and not nearly as cute I get TONS of complements on it….. which just makes me think of your bag even more b/c I know mine will not hold up nor is it as classy OR functional! Thanks for the actual name of it… I’m gonna try to ebay it this year, and since we live in different states I am NOT going to feel weird about it if you don’t! :)

  8. Oh my! I totally love that bag and the shape. Seems like it would be a really great to style, and the color is so fun.

    No justification necessary. Everyone has their thing…that thing they like to have and indulge. For me, it would be purses, hands down, every time.

    Enjoy!
