Introducing Thimblepress …

I am so excited to introduce you to one of this month’s Happy Bundle sponsors.

I stumbled upon a great little shop when I was searching Etsy for ‘scripture cards’ … I wanted something not only functional, but cute that we could have displayed and read/work on memorizing weekly. I am drawn to good design … it speaks to my creative heart, but then add to it the word of God … and it captures my soul too. That’s exactly what I felt when I saw these Small Square with Might Words cards::

Next thing I knew, Kristen {owner & designer behind Thimblepress} generously agreed to sponsor this month’s giveaway.

Here’s more about Kristen in her own words::

Dressing up as an artist at her kindergarten career day was the first step I took in the direction of being an artist as a profession. I knew at an early age what creating art and beautiful things meant. Both of my grandmothers were avid seamstresses and craft gurus. I grew up loving hands-on projects and anything that involved paint. My grandmothers will always be a huge part of why I am the way I am today and why I continues to honor them in my work.

After completing high-school AP art class, I went on to Mississippi State University where I did not even hesitate in choosing my major. I went into college knowing I was going to be an art major with an emphasis in graphic design. After graduation in 2007, I opened up Cultigraphic Creative with fellow MSU classmate Catherine Yerger. Both of us had a passion for art and design which translated nicely into design work for our long list of clients.

And how Thimblepress got started::

In 2011, curiosity got the best of me and I purchased a 1925 10 x 15 Chandler + Price from Lexington, KY and hauled it all the way back to Mississippi on a tiny trailer with just one other person as my letterpress-moving sidekick. With the press acquired I decided to open up Thimblepress. The name was derived from my childhood, now continued on to adulthood, collection of thimbles from my travels. Every time I traveled to a new state I got a thimble to mark the visit. A few of them have broken from moving different places, but I still keeps the collection right in my office.

Not only is Thimblepress a letterpress studio, it is an art studio, sewing studio, design studio, woodworking studio, and basically anything creative that I want to try my hand at next. With the love of handmade, art, color and pattern, I hope to make Thimblepress a reflection of my life, love of my family, and my favorite places in the world; one of them being Mississippi.

(Can’t Forget) Willow & Norman
I have two amazing office helpers. One of them is Willow, a fluffy sometimes diva-like golden doodle who lets me know when I has been working too long. The other, a rescue cat named Norman who loves sleep, being lazy, purring, and eating his food out of his fancy ceramic food bowl. Both are an integral part of keeping Thimblepress afloat!

{Ha! I love it!}

Here’s a few questions I asked Kristen to get to know her a little better::

Favorite thing about spring –
Definitely all the green and beautiful blooms! I love nature and it such a heavenly thing to see the cold of winter disappear and hear all the birds chirping, the flowers blooming, and everything being filled with color! I love the sense of renewal that happens during the spring; not to mention the spring cleaning that I usually get done.

The last book you read that you really loved –
What The Dog Saw By: Malcolm Gladwell

Favorite TV show {current, Netflix or otherwise} is –
Definitely Friends. I could watch it all day, everyday. :)

Favorite room in my house is –
My studio/bedroom. I am in the process of opening a brick and mortar store in downtown Jackson, MS, so for now my studio is in my room. Crazy, but also very fun.

Thank you SO much Kristen for sponsoring this month’s giveaway and sharing a little bit about the creative girl behind this wonderful shop!

Kristen is offering a VERY GENEROUS 30% discount to Knitty Bitties readers when you use the code INDIEBOXTHIMBLE at checkout.
