Favorite Things Back-to-School Party // The Invite

// The Invite

Hurray! This week is going to be filled with all the fun details behind all the Favorite Things pictures you might have seen on my IG feed last week {#b2schoolfavparty}.

For our second annual “Favorite Things” party, we {Jessica, Kelly, Summer & myself ~ #thevipfour} went with a theme of “Back-to-School.” One long car ride and a party planning session later and we had SO many wonderful ideas to pull off a fabulous {if I do say so myself} night of favorite fun.

As with any good party, the invitation sets the tone long before the actual event, right?

In this day and age it’s easy to take the route of an e-vite in one form or another. I am not in any way pointing the finger … for many gatherings, I do the same thing. It’s quick, convenient and if you NEED an RSVP, people *might* actually do it. However, there is nothing like a thoughtful actual paper invitation.

Often times, I end up setting up an event online with the words “formal invite to follow.” It allows the guests to get it on their calendar {a save the date if you will} and buys me a little more wiggle room with creating and mailing/delivering the “formal” invitations.

{Clever wording by my Seester.}

We decided to go with a library card style invitation and lucky for me {the invitation maker} I had done the hard formatting work a few years ago when I threw my Little a “Book Worm Party” and did a very similar invitation.

I mounted patterned cardstock to kraft cardstock {my favorite basic go-to card/invitation backing} for the base of the invitation.

I then embellished the library pocket with one of three washi tapes that coordinated with our color palette {red, navy, lime green and yellow}.

After adhering all the layers and slipping the card/wording into the pocket, I finished off with a bit of twine.

All in all theses were very inexpensive to put together, but packed a big punch of fun factor!
