Introducing The Lovely Words

Happy Monday!!

I hope you guys were inspired by the posts that Melissa & I put together about cultivating thanksgiving in your heart and the hearts of your children. My Sunday School lesson {yes, I know … I get to teach Sunday School … how fun is that?!?!} today was about the Tenth Commandment, Do Not Covet. In simpler terms for 1st – 3rd graders {or any age really} … Be Happy NOW! I just love how God worked out the timing of this lesson right before Thanksgiving and heading into a season that can so easily get filled up with wants and selfish desires.

Memorizing scripture is such a great tool to be on the offensive when those feelings pop up and try to take root. I hope you had a chance to pop over to Melissa’s shop, The Lovely Words, last week … but if not, I’m excited to properly introduce her to you today. She has a beautiful heart, a most lovely family and a gift with design and shining her light shine!

{And if I can admit it … I’m quite jealous of her beautiful blog. It’s so pleasing to the eye and nice and organized … I like to go hang out there hoping for some of it to come to my blog via osmosis. Then I have to confess my sin … thou shall not covet another’s blog.}

Here’s more about Melissa, in her words::

favorite thing about the Christmas season::
refocusing on the true meaning of Christmas and what that means as we live out the radical love of Jesus. but i also love the extra time we get with our family. we are planning something this year called musical Christmas trees, where we will throw all the kids in their pi’s and go from my sister-in-laws house to my in-laws house to our house seeing everyone’s Christmas trees while having desserts and coffees and hot chocolate.  we go to breakfast with my husband’s family every Christmas eve, too. i love tradition and we have plenty of them so i’m looking forward to memories made and hearts full as we approach the Christmas season.

The Lovely Words Glorious Print
{melissa’s favorite item is the glorious splendor print based on brennan manning’s words from his book ragamuffin gospel!}

the last book i really loved::
i read a lot! the last book I read and really loved was Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett. it’s all about friendship and the ugly-mess-beautiful of true unconditional love between friends. it’s a rare gift that i am learning to truly appreciate.

my favorite tv show {current, Netflix or otherwise} is::
i just finished watching every episode i could of Scandal. i loved it and cannot wait for the next episode.

my favorite room in my house is::
our great room. it’s the combination of our living area, kitchen and dining area. it’s open and airy and it is where we spend 90% of our time. this is where we live out our days. this is where we homeschool, cook, break bread with friends. have long chats over coffee and snuggle up for family movie night. it is a work in progress but we love our space.

Melissa commented recently that we are on the same page with life … family first- always- forever- amen. Yes, Amen! I may not always blog as much as I want and I may not update my shop as often as I’d like and sometimes e-mail is out of control, but as long as my family is at the top of my list, I am doing things right.

Melissa will be closing down her shop on November 30th and taking December to soak up every moment of the Christmas season with her family {love!}. So … don’t wait on getting your orders in … I think a set of scripture cards would be a lovely addition to any gift {or maybe tie one on each of your gifts} this season. The Advent Calendar shown above needs be ordered by November 20th {this Wednesday} and will arrive before the start of advent on December 1st. You can see her post all about it here.

Finally … the winner of our collaborative giveaway is::

 Amanda G.!! Yeah!! You should have a happy e-mail waiting for you!!
