Cascade Blog Hop + Giveaway

If a girl can’t travel to quilt market, the next best thing is being able to sew up some samples to hang out at market for her, right?
Well that’s what I tell myself as I send off these pieces, jealous of the adventure they get to go on without me.

Jessica Levitt, talent behind the blog, Juicy Bits, is debuting her newest fabric line for Windham Fabrics at Quilt Market.

In Jessica’s words, “Cascade is inspired by the many colors and forms of water all around us.  It’s a graphic snapshot of just a few of things that water does.  It drips down a window pane or cascades down a waterfall.  It glistens as morning dew or floats flowers and leaves on it’s surface.  It splashes in a puddle or bubbles into the air …”

I love that! It resonates even greater with me as our family has taken up recreational (i.e. not white water) kayaking over the last year and it’s given me a deeper appreciation of the beauty of water.

I had the pleasure of receiving a bundle of Cascade fabrics to sew {two} pillows for Cascade’s “Look Book” and market booth.

Cascade features two colorways, Pond & Glacier.

In the rush to get the pillows sewn and returned to Jessica, I neglected to take a single photo of the process, let alone the finished projects!!
Thankfully, Jessica shared her photos with me.

One of the pillows was created using one of the patterns {Stripe of Strips Pillow} from Jessica’s book, Modern Mix!, which is available as a free download.
I used a monochromatic pallet of the pale gray {“Fog”} fabrics for the center stripe and accented it with “Float in Silt.”

The second pillow I sewed used Canoe Ridge Creation’s free pattern, Flyin’ Together Pillow.
I sized the pillow down and created an additional three ‘geese’ to give the pillow a little more movement and to show off more of the fabric.
