Contain It! Blog Hop + Giveaway {CLOSED}

Well, nothing like a deadline to bring me back to the blog. Life has been crazy, crazy fun, but none the less crazy ... keeping me from all things blog related {same story, different day}. Moving on ... I was invited to be a part of the blog hop celebrating the one-year anniversary of the book, Contain It! English Paper-Pieced Accessories. It's written by the mother-daughter team you might recognize as Prairie Sewn Studios. Now I will admit that I was a little intimidated/un-sure of how I'd feel about this style of sewing ... BUT ... I am always looking for ways to challenge and grow in my sewing skills. Just because something doesn't at first glance look like a fit for your style, ... Keep Reading

Baby Binky Bunny

I'm not even sure how to jump back in here ... I am slowly coming out of the beautiful exhaustion from traveling and being a part of Choose Joy. I am more tired than I can remember being in a long time. I'm heart & soul are filled up. I am also weary and heart-broken as this week has started with so much tragedy for so many people. Some I know personally, some I've met through social media and some I've only read about. I can't understand it, but I can pray to my God who does ... who sees each of these people and loves them so very much. So today, lacking the right words ... I'm sharing one last project from April. A "Baby Binky Bunny" for my great-niece:: Pattern by ... Keep Reading

Handmade Holidays {The Satchel}

This year for Christmas, we followed last year's "4 gifts" idea for our Little. "Something you want, something you need, something to wear & something to read." Of course, as most almost 10 year olds, the list of wants is fairly extensive, again, it's a matter of narrowing it down to one thing that doesn't break the bank (this year it was a simple Lego Bricks & More Builders of Tomorrow set). The trickiest category by far is "something you need." I ... Keep Reading

My {current} go-to handmade gift …

I feel a little bit of pressure {self-imposed} of course to hand make at least a portion of each gift I give ... am I the only handmade business owner that feels like this?I love what I do, so I love gifting items I've sewn ... however, I also like giving gifts on actual birthdays {not within a promised 3 month post-birthday window which hangs over me and sucks the creative spirit right out from me} ... so lately it seems like I've got a go-to handmade gift equation. Zippered pouch + items reflective of the gift recipient = A quick, winning & partially handmade gift! Here are two recent examples I remembered to snap a few photos of:: End-of-the-Year Teacher Gift Pencil Pouch + Fun ... Keep Reading

I'm currently::Watching:: Uhm, if I confess Gossip Girls will you still read my blog? Oh, okay ... well really I don't 'watch it' ... I listen to it while I sew. It makes me laugh ... a lot. But watching, well actually sitting down watching, that would be Duck Dynasty with the family. It also makes me laugh ... a lot.Reading:: Well this doesn't really look any different from my January "Currently::" post. Except I went ahead and returned one since I knew it wasn't going to happen any time soon ... I've got three books I'm working on right now aside from my constant companions {the Bible, Google Reader, Country Living & Running World}. I'm part way through Run Like A Mother. After listening ...
